The Shapes tour of Holland the U.K. this past July, 2006 was a HUGE success
for us and we had a blast!!! Special thanks to our friends Sietse Huisman of
Leeuwarden, Holland, Janpier Brands of Leeuwarden, Holland, Oeds Bouwsma of
Leeuwarden, Holland and last, but certainly NOT least, Jimmy Glasmacher of Ede,
Holland as well as Jez Sands of The Pizza Express in London, England. These
guys were amazing and we couldn't have made the tour a success without their
help!!! We made a lot of new friends along the way and already we've got gigs
booked for 2007, which you'll read about in a minute.
But first, we have some great news!!! Shapes is proud to announce that we
have been invited to perform at the Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta Indonesia from
3/2-3/4/07.....Check out the news page for details.
We'll also be playing a couple of gigs locally, on 1/3/07 at the Baked Potato
and 1/4/07 at the University of La Verne, so stop by the live page and get
the info on those gigs, too.
Meanwhile, the next Shapes tour of Europe is officially happening! Already,
we have solid bookings in the United Kingdom and Holland and are working on
dates in Germany, Belgium, France and Italy. Stay tuned for more on the tour,
which will take place during the months of September and October, 2007!
We're also planning the next CD and eventually, a full length concert DVD. Hopefully, we'll find the time to also release a live on tour CD from out summer
2005 and summer 2006 tours, so be on the look out for that....someday!!!
For those of you wondering about the long awaited Shapes music books,
featuring the sheet music from both of our CD's, the wait will soon be over. A
thousand apologies for the delays, but as you can imagine, it's a lot of work to
edit the music as well as make sure that all of the publishing legalities are
covered. Look for the release of this material sometime BEFORE April of 2007 if
not sooner!!!
We also have NEW Shapes shirts, beautifully designed again by Miss Kotomi
Hashinokuchi and this time, we have them in small, medium, large, extra large and
double extra large, too. We also have them in four colors: black, white,
aqua blue and sky blue.
Finally, some time early in 2007, look for some major changes to the Shapes
website. This is a long overdue project that finally, has inched it's way to
the top of our "to do" list. Meanwhile, you can also visit us at MySpace.com
Thanks for stopping by and Happy New Year to all of you on behalf of Shapes!
Meanwhile, check out this interesting analysis of our version of John
Coltrane's classic, 'Naima' from The Big Picture, featuring Robben Ford by guitar
legend, Steve Khan, who's credits include everyone from The Brecker Brothers to
Billy Joel.
